Five places across six entries here: Avoca has both a village page and a page for the mill at its heart. Weaving has gone on at that mill since 1723, with guided tours from March to October, and the Meeting of the Waters lies three kilometres up the valley. Arklow, further down the same coast, keeps over 2,000 artefacts in its heritage museum on the North Quay, among them the 1917 Kynoch explosion display and a working trawler wheelhouse for children.
The rest are scattered. Stratford-on-Slaney is a west Wicklow stop, a planned industrial town laid out from 1774 with double-crescent streets and an octagonal square copied from Bath, its cotton mill remains strung along the Slaney beside a flat riverside path. Glenealo Valley is not a building at all but the wild back half of Glendalough, and you reach it on the Spinc loop, a boardwalk climb above the Upper Lake that drops into the valley past a deserted lead-mining village and a herd of feral goats.
Marine Life Bray is the wet-day answer, entirely indoor, sitting on the promenade with thirty-odd displays and feeding demonstrations through the day. Nothing here joins into a single circuit. Avoca and Arklow pair easily in the south-east, Bray sits at the northern end of the county, and Stratford and Glenealo each want their own drive; Glenealo wants boots and a few hours of daylight as well.

Wicklow, wicklow
Avoca village grew up around a weaving mill founded in 1723, still Ireland's oldest working woollen mill and open for guided tours from March to October. Three kilometres up the valley, the Avonmore and Avonbeg rivers join at the Meeting of the Waters that Thomas Moore made famous. The village stood in for Ballykissangel in the BBC series, and red kites circle over Kilmagig Woods to the north.
