Fota Wildlife Park – Cork's open-range zoo
Fota Island, cork
On the rolling pastures of Fota Island, free-range animals roam paddocks the paths run straight through, so lemurs and wallabies are often loose a few metres away. The daily Cheetah Run is the set-piece, the Asian Sanctuary holds Sumatran tigers and rhinos, and this not-for-profit charity park sits 13 minutes by train from Cork.
